About the Wooleycat
Wooleycat is a master storyteller and songster who invites children into imaginative play and creativity. He is the Master of Ceremonies in the award-winning “Wooleycat’s Musical Theater,” a book with song CD (Tortuga Press). He is also the inspiration for other well-loved song CDs, a video, books and media available or in development for families, children and teachers of preschool through third grade.
Wooleycat’s reputation has been growing for two decades. Many of his early fans are now parents with children of their own. Every day he makes new friends.
Young Wooleycat (peeking out from the curtain above) is Wooleycat’s nephew. He follows in his uncle’s footsteps and leaves messy paw prints in the Wishing Tree Playhouse backstage studio, where he paints and draws, makes stage sets and costumes for musical theater and writes stories and songs. He does this all with a bit of help from Wooleycat.
Where he’s from & where he’s going...
Wooleycat appeared in Dennis’ imagination one day and debuted on Dennis & Christine’s first album of songs for children—“Tracking the Wild Wooleycat.” People began calling Dennis the “Wooleycat guy” and soon the furry bard took a central role. He continues as star of, or mascot for, all of Dennis and Christine’s creations for children. Wooleycat team players are dedicated to producing works of value and enrichment for families and offering products that spark imaginative play.

Dennis Hysom and Christine Walker are the creative partners behind all of Wooleycat’s shenanigans. Dennis is a musician, music producer and songwriter. Christine is a visual artist, writer and lyricist. Dennis gives concerts in schools and for community events. Together they lead songwriting workshops.
When they were young, they loved music, books and art—and they still do! They began writing songs for their nieces and nephews and children of friends, and now they often receive calls and emails from fans who grew up with Wooleycat’s music and have children of their own. Dennis and Christine’s son, Quinn, also grew up with Wooleycat. Quinn is now 21. He took this photo.
Dennis got his first guitar at age 14 and has performed across the United States. He’s also traveled in North and Central America recording sounds of nature for film scores and a series of instrumental CDs. When he’s not making music, he develops websites. He built this one.
Christine illustrates Wooleycat’s books and CD covers. She designed the sets and costumes for “The Wonderful World of the Wooleycat” video. Her paintings are exhibited in galleries and public and private collections. She is also the author of “A Painter’s Garden: Cultivating the Creative Life.”
